Join the BACKtoGOLF team! The Leaders In Golf Fitness, Performance and Rehabilitation
BACKtoGOLF is committed to educating physical therapists and other health care professionals through a program of seminars. The seminars are designed to teach the health care professional about the biomechanics of the golf swing, how to evaluate the golfer, and how to design and implement a golf-specific rehabilitation or performance program.
BACKtoGOLF offers two seminars for physical therapists: The Basic Seminar and the Advanced Training Seminar.
The Basic Seminar presents information about the golf industry, discusses the biomechanical basis for swing faults, describes in detail the biomechanics of the golf swing, and compares and contrasts the "small" muscle golf swing and the " large" muscle golf swing. The physical therapist is introduced to the "Six Step Evaluation" a sequential evaluation of the golf swing that examines soft tissue restrictions, joint range of motion, strength, and balance with respect to the golf swing motion. The physical therapist is shown simple, but very effective soft tissue treatment techniques and has ample time to practice these techniques in a lab setting. Golf fitness and performance concepts are presented and how to implement a golf program in the clinic is discussed.
The Advanced Training Seminar describes in detail fifteen of the most common swing faults and presents the biomechanical basis for each swing fault. "The Six Step Evaluation" is reviewed and the physical therapist is introduced to selected advanced soft tissue techniques. A half-day exercise lab incorporates core stability training, functional lower and upper extremity strengthening, dynamic balance and power drills for the golfer. The seminar concludes with an in depth presentation on marketing and how to make your golf program successful.
BACKtoGOLF offers an "internship" program to seminar attendees and licensees providing the physical therapist with the opportunity to see first hand how a BACKtoGOLF rehabilitation and performance program operates. The physical therapist will be able to observe the "Six Step Evaluation", implementation and progression of rehabilitation and performance programs, and marketing of the BACKtoGOLF program to both medical and golfing communities. The "internship" program is one to five days in length and the physical therapist can choose from five BACKtoGOLF Performance Center locations around the country.
BACKtoGOLF is developing a special program, Train-the-Trainers, which will
be available in the future. This new program will team the Physical
Therapist with athletic trainers, exercise physiologists, strength and
conditioning specialists and personal trainers. We will present the
biomechanics of the golf swing, etiology of golf injuries, an exercise lab
with an in-depth look at flexibility, core stability, functional upper and
lower extremity strengthening, dynamic balance, and power drills for the
golfer.
